A set price for your move based on estimated weight/volume and services, valid for 60 days.
Carrier
A company that transports goods for payment.
Claim
A written request to cover loss or damage during your move.
Closing
Final step in a home sale — ownership is officially transferred to the buyer.
Compliance
Meeting all rules, regulations, and document requirements for the move.
Disassembled by Owner
You disassemble the item, not the movers. Reassembly is your responsibility.
Dock
A raised loading area that aligns with the moving truck.

Estimate

Fuel Surcharge

Gross Weight

Household Goods (HHG)
Personal items used in a home.
Interstate Move
A move between different states.
Intrastate Move
A move within the same state, over 50 miles.
Loading
The task of placing items into a truck, trailer, POD, etc.
Local Move
A move within the same town or nearby area. Usually within 50 miles.
Log Book
A van driver’s daily record of hours and travel routes.
Net Weight
Total shipment weight (Gross weight – Tare weight).
Owner
The client at the center of the move — whose satisfaction drives everything we do.
Packed by Carrier (CP)
Your items are packed by All-Star Moving.
Packed by Owner (PBO)
You pack your own items.
Packing
The materials and services used to prepare smaller items for moving. Usually being placed inside a box or similar carton.
Packing List
A detailed list of packed items, usually combined with the inventory.
Pads
Thick blankets used to protect furniture during the move.
Pad Wrapping
Wrapping furniture in moving blankets and properly securing them in place to prevent scratches, dents, and damage during the move.
Pre-Existing Damage
Any damage that existed before the move began.
Scale Ticket
Official weight record of the truck before and after loading.
Specialty Item
Unusual items that are typically very large or heavy
Tare Weight
Truck weight before loading, including equipment and materials.
TMO (Traffic Management Officer)
Military office that coordinates base-to-base moves.
Unloading
The task of removing items from a truck, trailer, POD, etc.
